Venue Open air woodland setting in a 70 acre ancient woodland on a family-run working farm: peaceful and beautiful Dernwood Farm Nr Heathfield, East Sussex.
We’ll be round a cosy camp fire in the autumnal woods for this day of weaving ivy baskets. Once you’ve made yours, ivy will take on a whole new significance.
What you’ll learn
On the day you’ll forage your own ivy for weaving.
You’ll learn which ivy is best for basketmaking, including when, where and how to harvest it.
Ruby will teach how to start your basket, and then weave the body to create a well-shaped form.
A simple border will be taught to complete your basket.
To inspire you further, there’ll be samples of baskets made this way, but from other wild plants.

To support you in getting the most from the day, we’ll connect to the woodland surroundings through a short and simple, guided mindfulness-based practice.
Ruby, you have creative skills and calm methodical practice in such a great balance. I so enjoyed making ‘something’ from ‘nothing’ and will be using my new skills for future weavings. NR, Sussex
